For those of you who thought Cosmic Opera was limited to huge events at Hammerstein Ballroom: Think again. The night of May 31st gave rise to a new type of Cosmic Opera soiree in New York City’s legendary club, Arena. Sharply dressed young city folk filed into the club past Justin Cohen, Adam Gelman and Ross Meisel, the three men responsible for creating the Cosmic Opera family. The goal: “Rage for charity”. The outcome: An enormous success. Beyond the lush sound system and gorgeous models dancing betwixt Cosmic Opera’s famed lasers, the music was phenomenal. Unfortunately we were unable to stay for the entirety of the event, but for the time we were there, Dalton impressed us thoroughly. He played a satisfying slew of popular and familiar EDM anthems, but also managed to sneak in a few classics, “Pacha On Acid” being a personal favorite. At one point Dalton showed his true colors by seamlessly mixing multiple versions of Martin Solveig’s “The Night Out”, a perfect musical narration for the evening. It can sometimes be difficult for a true dance music fan to find a club that’s not too crowded, not to sketchy, and that plays good music all night long (Yes, even in New York City). Cosmic Opera presented a refreshing remedy to this problem last night, and even caught the eyes of American DJs/Producers Filo & Peri, who decided to drop by before heading out to Kansas City.

To take matters a step further, all proceeds from last night’s event were sent to the Haiti Empowerment Mission, a charity that provides education, jobs and sustainability in Haiti. So this is a double bonus; Anyone in attendance last night undoubtedly had a great time, and they did so knowing they were part of a cause worth supporting. Based on all the information presented, I’d be very surprised if anyone walked out of Arena without a smile (and a slight ringing in their ears). As I witnessed a busy, and most likely stressed out Justin Cohen focused on coordinating and making sure everything went smoothly throughout the duration of the time I was there, I remembered something he said about Cosmic Opera: It’s all about looking down and seeing thousands of smiles.

Last night was yet another success for Cosmic Opera as they continue to create a coveted name for themselves in the city that, fittingly, never sleeps. If you live in the area, familiarize yourself with this ever-growing Manhattan party powerhouse. Be sure to check out:
